Quarterback Drops The Ball & Dannon Drops The Quarterback

Due to recent comments made by star quarterback Cam Newton in a post game press conference, Dannon Yogurt has decided to pull its sponsorship of Carolina Panther’s starting quarterback Cam Newton. During a press conference Cam Newton was asked a question by reporter Jourdan Rodrigue, following the question Newton stated, “It is funny to hear a female talk about passing routes.” Darren Rovell released Dannon`s statement via twitter:

Newton was not the only person involved to receive backlash, as Rodrigue was also topic of discussion because of previous racial tweets made back in 2012 which was reported by Blacksportsonline.com.  Rodrigue issued an apology stating, "I apologize for the offensive tweets from my Twitter account from 4/5 years ago," Rodrigue tweeted. "There is no excuse for these tweets and the sentiment behind them. I am deeply sorry and apologize."

Being an African- American female there is no black or white opinion to this situation. Both parties participated in offensive actions and should be held accountable. Placing my bias aside I ask you, the reader, did Dannon make the right choice as far as Newton`s sponsorship and should there be a greater consequence for Rodrigue`s racial comments other than a tweet?
